The Council for Biblical Manhood and Womanhood has put together an evaluation of the NIV 2011.
The full report is here, and the data that supports the conclusions can be found here.
The takeaway:
The 2011 NIV is 75% the TNIV in gender language, and it effectively nullifies 1 Tim. 2:12, the most important verse in the Bible regarding women’s roles in the church. It also tilts other key verses in a feminist direction. But they did correct a number of the most criticized verses in the TNIV.
I commend the evaluation and the data for your consideration.
Are the changes – particularly to 1 Tim 2.12 – arbritrary changes or are they based on valid scholarship?
I agree with what Denny Burk writes about it here: http://www.dennyburk.com/the-niv-on-1-timothy-212/
This is what I feared; the committee essentially made TNIV Lite for the NIV2011.
The “NIV1984” will no longer be published by Zondervan or any other company, correct?
