Between homeschooling and teaching and preaching, a lot of packages with books in them arrive at our doorstep. We are spoiled by Amazon, and we love the free shipping available via Amazon Prime.
I’m also very thankful for the Amazon Associates program, which makes it so that Amazon gives referral credit when you, dear reader, click links from this blog or from my tweets and make purchases. Thanks for supporting this blog in that way. If you’re blogging and you’re not on the Amazon Associates program, you should sign up. If you’re buying books regularly, or otherwise using Amazon, and you’re not on Amazon Prime, I’d encourage you to check out the Amazon Prime 30 Day Free Trial.
@DrJimHamilton – it’s so sad that we get so excited about brown boxes on our doorstep – but so much fun!
If you buy lots of books, you’re probably already on Amazon Prime. If you’re not, you can try it for 30 days: http://t.co/K5xcXT7ahw
@Dr. Jim Hamilton
Really enjoy your site and can relate to your experiences of watching for the brown boxes from Amazon. But I recently called an ‘all-stop’ on purchasing books from Amazon when I learned that its CEO (and founder) Jeff Bezos had donated $2.5 million to support gay marriage in WA (ref Washington Referendum 74). Since we are the beneficiaries of (religious) freedom won with blood (not to mention the ultimate freedom won with Christ’s blood) and gays are leading the attack on religious freedom I cannot at present with good conscience patronize Amazon. Would appreciate your thoughts.
I think we’re soon facing a day where, if we take the approach you’re describing, we’ll be immigrating somewhere else to live.
Dr. Hamilton,
Thanks for responding. But I’m not suggesting we (believers in the Lord Jesus) immigrate elsewhere. First, all the parking spaces have been taken and second, the concept of honor with respect to the sacrifices made by so many to secure religious freedom demands otherwise.
If we continue the course (I think) you’re suggesting, there will soon be a new book available for pre-order on Amazon titled: “Over and Out: How Compromise Put an End to Religious Freedom in America.”
I like Amazon. But I cannot at present order books from there in good conscience.
Yours in Christ,
Randy Seale
