An insightful post on what education is and what schools do from Dr. Mohler:
Schools are never just about education. For that matter, education is never just about education. The school as an institution is founded and supported as a means to some end. In ancient Israel, education was to produce a faithful member of the chosen nation — a son who would bring pride to the family and his people and glory to God. In ancient Greece the school was to produce a productive citizen, wise and mature. Rome followed the example of Greece.
In the Christian tradition, education was first about making disciples. The earliest Christian schools were catechetical schools for new believers. The early church borrowed from the classical models and established new traditions.

Thank you for your comments on Family Integrated Churches. I feel the Lord is moving in our nation by exposing secular education for what it is, a training arena for secular humanism. I am an Associate Pastor in an Southern Baptist Church and my wife and I homeschool our children. May God awaken the Christain church to the dangers of public education. It is critical that Christian parents study the Scriptures and recognize that it is their responsibility to educate their children in the fear of the Lord.
Interesting. In the very word education, there is no neutrality of objectives. The root of education, “educar,” means “to bring out something.” True education was meant to bring out the latent potential and ability that God gifted the particular individual. Education has turned into “inducation”, where our boards of education have decided to instill a particular worldview, with obviously catastrophic results.
